Meet the Therapist
Hi there! Here's some information about me and my therapeutic approach. I view the therapeutic process as a collaborative effort between the therapist, the individual, and the larger relational system. I work from a strengths-based perspective and believe that in every individual, couple, and family is the capacity for meaningful change and healing. I bring an accepting approach to the therapeutic process and provide individualized care to each of my clients. To ensure your sessions are purposeful and insightful, I carefully consider the context in which symptoms are experienced and utilize effective methods and tools to address the deeper, underlying factors that contribute to problems and concerns.
I provide therapeutic services to adults, couples, and parents. I have experience working with children in the public-school system where I provided individual and group therapy. I've also worked in a community mental health agency where I treated at-risk families and individuals. I have extensive experience treating couple and family issues, women's issues, parenting concerns, ADHD, anxiety, depression, life-transitions, and trauma. I'm passionate about helping couples and parents improve their relationships with each other and their children.
My therapeutic approach incorporates a variety of treatment options and techniques to provide individual and effective care for each of my clients. In my practice I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as well as family and relational approaches such as Narrative Therapy, Multi-generational Therapy, the Gottman Method, and Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy. I've received specific training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, am certified in Best Practices for Preventing Sexual Harm, and have completed Gottman Level 1 training.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Utah and received my Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral University. I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist in Florida, license # MT3857, in Utah, license # 293966-3902, and in Washington, license # LF 61600803. In my spare time I enjoy reading, travel, hiking, and spending time with my family.
